Bought my set of 150W MH light from Jalan Besar.

They quoted me $160/set which comes a modified pulley system where by the ignitor must be mounted outside. It comes with a 4200K Osram bulb which is too yellow for planted tanks.

I managed to source for Osram 6500K for $35 each. Not sure I got it cheaper cos my company bought many stuff from them. You can try if you are intersted.

Also talked to the sales rep, she said that Iwasaki is coming out the new double ended 150W MH bulb next month where it is most suitable for plants as it's about 96% similar to sunlight. Price of course is more expensive in the region of $50.
    Cheers!!

    Derrick,

The config I have is 2 sets. That means paid $320 + $70 for 2X150W MH.

The 3.5ft tank will be converted to Tanganyikan Cichlid tank.

Nice setup, but the 2 lamps seem quite close together. Thinking of placing high light plants in the middle?

Osram got 6500K MH lamps? I thought highest 5200K. Last time they didnt have 6500K, so I bought Iwasaki instead.

    Wei Cheng,

The person who sold me the lights also told me that Osram do not have daylight.

Iwasaki did not have double ended type so she offered me Osram.
    Cheers!!

    Sherwin,

Are you using Osram DE or single end MH lamps? From my knowledge, Osram does not have 6500K lamps whether it is DE or single end type. Their website shows nothing about 6500K lamps.

I got this Iwasaki catalogue which states that Iwasaki has 150W DE MH lamps for some time already. But maximum wattage only 150W. See under red column.

    Kingpin,

The bulb I got is daylight. Confirmed with the supplier is 6500K. Actually I should have checked with the manual to confirm if it's in fact 6500K. Anyway, by the looks of the lights itself, it pretty white to me. So no worries for me there.

thanks for the info. will take a look.

my tank is also 4x2x2. your two lights seem to be quite close to each other. how do you determine the distance between them and also the height? does the light reach all four corners? from the photo, looks like there is some shadow at the corners. i may be wrong.

    thanks again.

The lights are abit too low. Whenit's planted, I'll expect it to be higher. I admit it's looks abit too close. It's not easy to drill the holes so I'm leaving at it is.

Just by pulling the MH higher maybe just 5-10cm will retify the problems in the dark corners, With MH intensity it can reach a depth of 70cm easily.
    Cheers!

    hi there ,

i went to 3T today and ask for the 150W MH setup and the guy quoted me 250 and that was the lowest he would gp

told him that i was recommended by someone who bought it here for 160 + 35 (bulb) , he say cannot sell at this price !!

hi, i went there today too, at abt 1pm. spoken to Teo. it's $160 without bulb. i didn't buy yet. still thinking of the best way to fix it as my 4' tank is already setup. can't move it aside.

btw the ballast box is big. much bigger than those i have seem at other shop. don't think they are original set. the light is made in taiwan and tbe ballast box is spain.
