Hi everyone today is a very bad day for me. My mh connection from eballast to the lamp one of the wire caught fire. Luckily I was there i quickly off the power. My ebllast is earth & extension have circuit breaker brand Helen made in hong kong. Dont understand why the circuit breaker did not trip. Can some expert give advise on how to prevent the incident from happening. My extension have 4 universal 3-pin plug. It state the max 10A, 2500W & 50Hz. I plug my 150w mh in one of the 3-pin. While the other socket is used by one 36wx2 pl light & 24wx2 pl light. Did I overloaded my extension that cause this.

The circuit breaker did not cut off could be due to the following reasons:

    1) There wasn't any current leakage
    or
    2) The current leakage was too little to trigger the circuit breaker
    or
    3) The circuit breaker is faulty.

To be on the safe side, it would be best to engage an electrician to check where went wrong (if you still want to use the lighting set). We can't prevent something from happening when we do not know what is the root cause.

what is the ratingof your circuit breaker?
any idea of the rating of the wire/s used for connection from eballast to mh lamp?
your extension strip looks ok but you did not mention anything about the wires. the wires need to be able to handle the current as well.

Confirm is wiring problem the output wire cannot withstand the voltage & some arcking. Have all the wiring change to the industrial standard so should not have this problem. Thanks for all the valuable advise & comments.
