Nope. Still too busy to give these fellows enough time. The recent pictures are all old file pictures for a short article.

sorry i wasn't too clear about that.
its the ventral area - ventral fins and anal area.
been reading a "theory" (not sure if its proven yet) on "venting" plecos to sex them.
here is the link - venting your plecos
someone's got pictures on the thread but they aren't too clear...
sorry i jump the gun on your article!![]()

Oh! A close of of their genital areas! Something like this?
Given the nature of plecos, this type of pictures aren't too common.
I suppose I could look into it but it's an area that's new to me too.

yes, like this picture (this looks like a good example of a male fish)
i will try to get the link for the article/reference.
my bookmarks are a mess at the moment...
Update (in blue text):
here's the article on hypancistrus type fish breeding (but as usual not very good pictures) - Janne Ekström
he describes a little on the venting method.
take note that this method is not fool proof, especially on juvenile and sub-adult sized fish.
PS - benny, it looks like there's a lump on the right ventral fin (left of picture). i hope this guy is doing okay.
