I have been looking into starting some live food cultures for my fish, just to add a bit of variety to their diet. I'm thinking of trying flightless/wingless fruit flies, grindal worms, white worms, vinegar worms and such. my dilema is actually finding starter cultures. sadly, there are no aquarium clubs that I know of around me, (and trying to find one is frustrating!) and my local fish store people just stare at me like I'm a lunatic when I ask (which i'm not completely disclaiming! ). Anyway, does anyone know where I can buy relatively inexpensive starter cultures, or even good informational websites/books about live food cultures? Very much appreciated!

I thought there are plenty of aquarium clubs in the U.S. I am not sure how easy it is, but I remember there are starter cultures available on eBay, www.aquabid.com and other auction sites.

Otherwise, as I understand it, kilifish keepers do culture live food for their fries, so you may wish to check with the American Kilifish Association folks. Not sure, but you may have to register with them in order to view the classfieds or something.

Here is some information regarding live food which may be useful.

Yes, there are plenty of clubs in the US, but surprisingly I have found none in my state or local states. Still researching as usual. Thank you for the info!
