yes you can
It all depends on the power of your pump/filter. Normally, you connect the outlet of your pump/filter to either a chiller, CO2 reactor & lastly to the rainbar in series.

You put your rainbar vertical at all level? Means only from 1 side only?I like to use it vertically for water movement at all levels of the tank.
As long as it is able to provide your tank with the required circulation, that's it. Doesn't matter how many & what's the orientation.

Let's not forget that it is a good way to reduce that brutal current out of your big pump without reducing in significant water volume on the move, so what you get is gentler, more even current at the same flow.

Well.. not to misguide because of some languange, I'd put it this way :
-without rain bar
current is strong (could be bad esp if tank is small, read some more for how strong current actually reduce plant growth)
flow is 2000l/h
-with rain bar
current is milder (just the right sway for your tank)
flow is slighly less but almost at 2000l/h (there is some backpressure created by the rainbar so the flow surely drop a bit)
compare with this :
-smaller pump without rain bar
current is mild
flow is 800l/h (might not enough to go around)
