Has anyone have any experience seeing a shrimp engage in breeding activites??

i have just seen one that MAY look like that IMO but left my cherry shrimp quite dead.
From that it leads me to think that the yamato shrimp attacked the cherry shrimp leaving it lifeless.

But what are the causes of it? i definitely wasnt told by the LFS that they might kill each other.

Hope to hear the views of the pros out there, as I am pretty new to this.

picture of what it looks like.

Another picture from a different angle.

what were they doing? because right after probably around 15-20 mins the cherry shrimp appeared quite dead lying upside down on the plant.
but now its moving once again!

*edit* (It died soon after. with a closer inspection, i found the shrimp seems to be hollow on the underside, probably eaten by the other shrimp. has anyone else encountered these problems or heard of them feasting on each other?? pls voice your comments/advices.)

    Regards,
    Veg

It's probably cherry about to die or died...
I seen some people keep yamato shrimps with cherry and yamato.
I also see people keep adult size of crs and yamato.
They seem to be doing fine.
Also, could be not feeding well and yamato do search for food every few hours and they do seem to egar when they see the food.

Shrimps clear up the algae and stuff for food isnt it?

Does the shrimp eat their own when they cant find algae..

that must be one hungry yamato.

i kept cherry , tiger and yamato together. never see them fight before. my yamatos are those fully grown type.

But shrimps are scavengers, they eat anything that is edilble and anything they can find.

i have some rocks at the bottom which has a greenish hue looking like there's algae growing there already.

So i don't really think that they have nothing to eat. maybe my water turned them aggressive. *rawr*

I have seen yamato kill a young healthy crs, so I dont keep yamatos with dwarf shrimp, the yamatos with my fish kill water woodlice (when I put live food for fish) the woodlice are bigger than young dwarf shrimp. Mostly the little shrimp will jump away from yamato but sometimes they can and will kill them.

It can go crazy when other shrimps have food but, I don't belive any alage shrimps will kill other kind unless they are dead. It's probably you didn't feed well. Yamato shrimps do look food about every few hours and they do glow faster then other shrimps. They do eat alage but, every 1-2 days you should feed them. Also, yamatos shrimps, you should feed everyday at least 1 time.

It happens to me. A group of Yamatoes of 6-10 attacked my oto in a 2-feet tank. They just keep crawling and climbing on the oto like ants swarming an elephant. Sigh. No more Yamatoe for my 2 feet tank. Never again.

PS: Imagine Yamotoe having a go at my Zebra oto or Tiger oto. I will definitely feel like throwing in some Apisto into the tank~!

Is your Cherry shrimp pregnant? Seems like the Yamato attack for the egg. Which unfortunately normal

Never seen my yamato attack my other shrimps or otos before

Yamato love spirulina tablets and algae wafer.

I would have to say remove all the fish if you want those shrimps to live happy. Any fish will stress them and those babies might get eaten soon or later.

Looks like a failed mating attempt to me... male yamato, female cherry. Hmm... though it's possible the cherry was injured and that's what caused the attack.

This is quite strange to me also. Being keeping some yamato with cherries in the past but they live happily... Are they well fed? Hungry shrimps are angry shrimps
