Finally decide to buy another pair of Apistogramma after the departure of my triple red 3 mths ago.I had pick up this last pair from Biotope 2 days ago.Quite settle down now with big appetite on dry and live food.Female is nowhere to be seen and occasionally came from hiding to whack the male for nothing.Very cool pair, hoope that they can survive longer that the triple red(for 6 months only)

that's a very beautiful fish you have got it does sound likely that spawning has occured...keep your fingers crossed and all the best!

wow it does seem that the agassiziis from the last batch of german apistos brought in by Thio are a prolific bunch...many reports of them spawning as soon as they get into the new tank maybe the changing of tanks is akin to changing large amounts of water and triggers their spawning mood?

I think that the surrounding play a part also, they are too disturb in the shop with keen buyers like me going there a few times just to confirm to buy them.Ha Ha
The female is still hiding and the body turn yellowish, even on the stomach also.Maybe it is baby making time.
The male has started to flare at the mirror and respond to my finger when it is close to the tank.
Another nice pair of collection Thanks to Mr Thio.

    mictok,
congrats on a nice catch. sure sounds like they are in breeding mode.
you guys are all the lucky ones, the vijeita I bought turned yellow but fade off after a few days with no sign of eggs or fries.

Congrats on your new purchase. This pair looks good.

Maybe you would like to add in some more plants like a java fern on wood to give the pair more hiding place.

    Its written Super red.
What will be a better choice of breeding ground, drift wood with ferns, flower pot ......?
Currently I had constructed a rock cave where the female is hidding and some nanas around it.

good catch! very intense colouration! do update us if they spawn! as long as your tank has enough hiding places and do your water changes faithfully, i'm sure you'll start seeing little fries swimming around in no time!!

The adult pair has did a great job producing a few great quality generation, sadly they didn't survive due to some disease....

I've moved on the breeding Ap. Hongsloi and two more other species very soon

As long as you feed them once a day, the female will do the rest
