Badis are not actually cichlids btw, they used to be, but then it was discovered that they are not..
They do stay relativly small, so dont produce a huge amount of bioload, but thats just one...8 of them will produce a lot of bioload...
Also, they can get quite territorial..
There are more than one type of badis, but a lot of these dont have scientific names, they are just usually Badis Badis sp....Like the scarlet badis..my lfs had one in..£20..very expensive..
The badis is in the family nandidae, which also contains leaf fish.
They get to about 4"..more usually 3.5" though..
They breed very much like dwarf cichlids, and were at one time believed to be cichlids, but now we know they are not..
They prefer live foods, and you will get the best colour out of the this way. Some wont accept flake...but will always except frozen bloodworm, frozen brine etc.

Sky devil, but they wont stay small for ever! Must think abt the fish..
Dunno where to get them, i am in the UK...but i hear they are rare.
