wat u intend to do, for display or for breeding? if for breeding a simple setup with driftwood/pot/stone for breeding, or u can go with a planted setup.. oso r u going to add other fishes in beside the candidi?

yeah, u have to decide whether u want a display tank or a breeding tank. for me, my breeding tank has gravel, a few potting dish (those small dishes use for gardening) and a driftwood with java moss. there's a bag of peat to lower the pH and filtering is through a sponge filter. pH is around 6 in my tank although articles on the net recommend below 5, which i might try if my current batch of eggs/fries don't make it.

actually u dun really need peat to lower the PH, can use indian almond leave, soak in a pail, add a air pump in... free peat...
