    Hey guys,
Need to ask if anyone have been breeding shrimps without using ADA or Magic soil, i.e. using gravel for shrimps?

    Please advise.
    Thank you.

Yap, my cherry shrimps have been breeding in normal lapis. I believe lots of moss and no predators are the key.

I see... how about CRs? Any bros managed to keep it without using ADA or magic soil, with pebbles only?

    Talking

Basically Ada Soil or Magic Soil is to help bring down PH...

As you got to know that Shrimps like lower PH & they flourish much better with that... I trust there will sure be some cases where AQ members manage to breed without Ada Soil but quality & condition will not be good...

Ada Soil is not only important to Shrimps but also for the plants inside your tank.

So my advice if for long run is to use Ada Soil or Magic Soil...

Kills a few birds in a stone. Hope you understand my point.

My first CRS tank was using only fine sand from sea. They were reproducing as normal.
But somehow it couldn't last as after 6 months, as they keep dying one by one until no more left. I guess too much debris trapped in the sand worsening the water quality. I was only using a sponge filter driven by air pump.

Used to breed crs with lapis sand as substrate for more than a year plus. No problems at all.
God will make a way, where there seems to be no way

Preference by people keeping CRS is to use some sort of subtrate that can lower PH...
