i think resun CL-280 will be better choice from the 2 options.
maybe you may want to get a diy external thermostat to control the chiller if the flow from your filter is too slow.

hi guys, as above.. need some help on chiller..
i am getting(hopefully) a chiller after chinese new year for my CRS project.
tank size is 18gallon. 2x1x1.3ft
im deciding upon this 2
1) haliea 150-HC
2) Resun CL-280.
which is more power saving? im using a eheim 2213 canister.. will it be able to push through the haliea? im looking more into the 150-HC... as my tank is kept in the storeroom.. im worried that the heat will raise the room temperature of the room.. so which chiller gives out more heat?
any other chiller other then the 2 above?(no teco or artica please...)
and also, which hp should i use? i suppose 1/10?
thanks!![]()

i think resun CL-280 is much cheaper and also quite reliable.
it can also be calibrated just like haliea but in 1deg, unlike haliea in 0.1deg.
for a chiller to work efficiently, best to let air ventilate and try not to keep in an enclosed area.

yup. 2213 isnt strong enough to match CL280 but should be able to pair with haliea.
if im not wrong, haliea requires a lower flowrate.

ya.. thats why i look at the haliea more.. im thinking if i get a 2nd hand chiller.. both cl-280 and 150-HC should be about the same price huh?
i think cl will be much cheaper for a 2nd as compared to a 150 hc.
also depends on your luck to find a cheap one too.
haha actually i feel that hc150a is better.. though i have not used it before.. sounds contradictory ..
but hc150a is very quiet to me.. quieter than artica dba75...
it cools slightly slower though.. about 5mins behind.. but on the close examination of the impact on the bill... artica will be 4dollars.. hc150a will be 8dollars or so... 4extra a mth i feel is insignificant.........
2213 is definitely enough to drive this chiller.. which cl280 cannot. only around 300l/h is enough.
also the thermostat is more accurate and there has been less complains for hc150a as compared to cl280.
evo! let me know if you want my chiller.. got a spare one resting one side.. ~8mths only.

haha.. thanks eeeeemo i will pm you.. but im not getting so soon.. might not be even getting if my parents don't let me to.
anyway, to me quietness is not really important. as its placed in the storeroom. i wont be able to hear it. what im worried is the heat. is the hc150a producing lots of heat when it chill the water?
thanks

yea.. heard that too. its the thermostat if im not wrong... but with restrained budget i cant go for teco or artica...

think getting a 2nd hand CL-280 and a higher flow rate filter will be better.
but if your tank is too small then maybe not too suitable also.

my tank is 18gallon that makes it around 70L.
think i will settle down for a 2nd hand HC150a if price is good.
otherwise will change my canister to a dolphin c-700 canister filter and cl-280 chiller..

Hi EvolutionZ, if you are not in a hurry to buy a chiller. Try to save for a Teco or Artica chiller. My lfs friend told me he once helped to sell a month old Resun chiller (a personal favour to another customer)to a customer and it broke down six months later.

i believe a teco or artica 1/10hp chiller cost at least $700 right?
not possible for me to get it.. my parents will kill me if i wanna buy such an expensive chiller...
