I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life... to put to rout all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

NOT complete, given that there's at least 10,000 freshwater fish species known and dozens if not hundreds are still being discovered yearly (and 20% of these are extinct or endangered, including many in Southeast and East Asia). Think the Atlas has around 4,000 species. Plus within each species you can have many variations, subspecies, populations and species complexes (groups of 'species' that hard to distinguish from each other). Meanwhile, total number of fish species is something like 28,000... think how many volumes of books you need just to have a 1-2 page profile of each species...
A good resource: http://www.iucn.org/themes/wani/eatlas/pdf/gm/gm2.pdf
plus: www.fishbase.org

woah...so many fishes...the problem with fishbase is that I need to know the name of the fish to see it's profile and stuff. That is why I am wondering if there are any good encyclopedia around with pictures so I can identify fishes easily. Anyone has a recommendation?
