I will be going Genting/KL holiday this sun and bought some weekend food block for my 2ft planted and small apisto caca tank to tie over the 4 days trip.
And to my surprise, happen to see some caca fries tonight. I did noticed some mating last week. The male was whacked until the fins are broken and 1 minor infection on body, so I have no choice but to transfer it to the 2ft planted shrimp tank. Lucky for me, the shrimps number seems ok probably a lot of moss and hidding place.
I also noticed the female spawn eggs on the indian cave. When I check for the eggs on Mon, they are all gone and never see any fries, thought it is another unsuccessful spawn. But tonight, really happy to see the fries swimming with the mother.

Now, this is my problem..how to maintain/feed to fries when I not around for holiday. I do have brine shrimp eggs but will not prepare to hatch as I will be busy tommorrow. I have put some cycoplee, will the fries take it?
And all this food will only last till I left on Sun.

Will the fries survive on the weekend food block I bought? There is also some black hair algae in the tank, do the fries feed on them?

And also do I keep the female with the fries ? Not sure that the female goes hungry will prefer the fries than the weekend food block.

    Congrats on your spawn!!

How long will you be away? Best to feed them before you leave...female is safe and better with the fries...
The fries can feed on micro-organisms or infusoria on the moss for the time being....
can go without food for about 2 days plus depending on tank condition

IMHO, it is not advisable to use those weekend blocks. I haven't heard a single good thing about these. All I heard was that they disintegrate easily after a couple of days and tend to foul the water easily.

The adult fishes can do without food for four days. As mentioned, put lots and lots of moss in the tank. There should be some infusoria or micro-organism in there to sustain the fries.

I had tried out to fill the tank with spiky and weeping moss on drift wood and they survived for the initial 3 days w/o BBS.Should be able to make it for 4 days.
Just make sure you come home with BBs from KL,HaHa.

i suggest, take out the parents, leave the fries in there will plenty of moss... that should do the job.
