Saw this superb specimen of Ap. macmasteri at C328 yesterday and was immediately awed by it. Was at C328 again today and saw that the pair has been reserved. Anyone here bought that pair? If you did, i wish to shoot some photos of your stunning male!

Yah man...young specimen, deep red face with blue specks, red ventrals, not too broad body. The perfect concoction of a good looking apisto. Reminds me of a wilhelm Ap. viejita.

Actually didn't thought of buying when i saw on thursday. Just thought what a beautiful specimen from C328 . Was there to spend some money again yesterday and pair was reserved. If not, i may have bought it then.

Well, i cannot differentiate confidently an Ap. viejita and an Ap. macmasteri as well. Be it some caudal peduncle spot or lateral bands... sometimes they just look so similiar. Thats why in the market, sometimes, Ap. viejita is sold as Ap. macmasteri and vice versa. However, i feel that Ap. viejita should have a much slender body then the Ap. macmasteri which has a broader body.

    Samuel,
Welcome to AQ and the Apisto world.
Clinton is an expert with Apisto, so it's good
to see him helping you out.
Now to wait for Eugene to go shoot the macmasteri.

haha not true man samuel... i think yours is better... mine's a different batch from yours... but if yóu're planning to breed them please let me know so that we can swap partners to prevent inbreeding!!! in that case the quality of the fries would not be compromised...
seems like you really caught the apisto bug... owells, good catch! haha... if you need any advice on apistos can feel free to discuss your queries online, this forum has lots of experienced and friendly apisto keepers who can really help you alot! and no richard, i am seriously far from being an expert in apistos! i am still a beginner in aquarium keeping really. people like eugene, dimas and many many more are the real pros! anyways, welcome to the apisto club samuel! may your pair of macmasteri be the first of the many other good quality apistos to come!!!

Thanks Clint for the complements. I am no pro too. Just like you, we're beginners!

Hi Samuel, welcome to the addictive and unofficial "Apistogramma Club". Where do you stay and what is your tank setup like? That was a good buy at a good price. One of the redder varient i have seen so far.
