    Hi all,

In mid 07, I posted a thread showing my tank development over a period of 1.5 years:- http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...light=zenscape

I enjoyed the layout very much and it served me well in the ADA contest years 06 and 07. But we need to reinvent to keep this hobby alive.

Sad that i had to tear it down and hope I don't regret

Over the last long weekend, I had a day free and decided to a do a total rescape. Pardon the lousy photograph. There is still cloudy water as it is just 5 day old. I use as much existing plants as possible and gave away a bucket of moss

Hope that it will mature fast and turn out fine for me.

I am totally lacking of ideas now and please give me your comments for improvement.

Wow.. maurice.. great to see your "new tank"..haha..
For a 5 day old tank i think it is great.. the depth created in the centre portion by the woods/sands/and that red plant is pretty cool..

I would suggest, however, that you use a smaller leafed red plant.. resons being that if it is supposed to be far away.. then the leaf would seem smaller in real life. Also.. At the left corner.. there is this stem plant on the extreme left.. can't really see what it is..but perhaps grow more of that long background plant that you are using behind it..and don't let that be your lone plant there.. don't know if you know what i mean.

You got plant list for this tank? what is that messy light green looking one on the right of the red stem plant?

Hi Justin, nice to hear from you and thanks for the suggestions.

The existing plants in this tank are still in a horrible shock because most of them were pulled out and reinserted. Water condition not so good at the present after i created a man-made disaster to the substrate

Have not gone shopping for plants yet.

For the red plant, it is Alternanthera Reineckii. Somehow, I have had no luck in this tank in keeping red plants. So i chose this as it is hardy and it is always red I may replace it with Rotala Wallichii to make it smaller and look further as suggested by you. Also, Wallichii is an easy plants.

The left 'lone' plants are Ludiwigia Repens. You bet it will grow like a weed in a week's time

The messy light green plants are Hemianthus Micranthemoides. Yah, still in a mess, indeed.

Intend to plant some crypto parva at the foreground around the woods. Which LFS has ready stock?

Nice theme! Can see where you are headed to.

bro, how about some anubias at the bottom below your drift wood? Add in some tennullus on the foreground?

i think the right hand side bottom theres this plant that makes your tank looks messy cause if the size, it belongs more to the background. Try removing it and plant something that looks neater, it might make your tank look better overall.

Hi marle. Yes, I have anubias and E tennullus in mind. In fact, Tom Barr suggested that too in my previous layout.

Right bottom plants? Are you referring to the extreme right needle leaf java fern?

This needle leaf java looks good when young but it grows long to become unsightly.. Same like crypto wenditt

Robert, I will cover it with moss. Thanks

    December update of this tank.

Trying to grow a thicket on the left hand side. Planted them in but they are hidden by the wood. Will have to wait for a while...

Heck! The tank looks same to me
