I saw many chemicals/solution/powder for the reefs but what exactly are their uses ? Their purpose ?

Correct me if I am wrong.

Calcium - for healthier live rocks and reef 'cos they need calcium to build good shell ....rocks ...healthy teeth and bones for human**laugh**.

And a calcium stabalizer powder....Kwalk...blah blah...can't remember the name

Bicarbonate - as a buffer to lower the PH that is why sometimes limestones are put in the marine tank.

Iodine - the protein skimmer removes the iodine and this is needed for the invertebrates. But why do invertebrates need iodine ? For what purpose ?

Strontium - What is this for ? When you need it ? Understand that putting too much of this removes calcium....why and how.

What other chemicals did you guys use ?
