    Hi all,

I'm looking for some small tiny plants for my re-vamped tank.
    Any recommendation?

Previously, in April 07 (quite messy)

Currently, a few days ago.. (quite empty)

Appreciates if anyone can provide some pointers/suggestions..

    Thank you, in advance...

IMHO, I think it looks great as it is. Strangely enough, I would rather have more tiger lotus at the side, maybe two more bunches would suffice.

    Thanks...

I have some new mini tiger lotus growing from the side (right side of the tank), maybe will move them to the left side of the tank...

Is it true that we shd keep types of plant as minimal as possible so that it looks better or jus a myth and personal preference?
Will more types of plant introduce new changes into the tank? These are some of my concerns...

I am sure the water condition is ok as my shrimps are breeding, just don't want to upset the water condition too much also....

hmmm.... maybe just 1 more type should be ok right?

It's no myth, it's true. Having too many plants means you must satisfy all the plants parameters, meaning alot of time and effort to find the right compromise. By having more plants you also have to think harder on your scaping. Hence for a beautiful tank that is equally easy to maintain, less types of plants. I am slowly but surely shifting to this mindset.

But....there are people out there who do dutch layout and swear by having multiple plants in their tank, they by far have to most outstanding tanks when it is set up right.
I was once like that, trying really hard at a dutch layout and buying all possible plants that I took a fancy, but the effort is killer and expensive.

If it's foreground plant you are looking for, have you considered Glossostigma elatinoides or perhaps Marsilea crenata? Both as short and will make a beautiful lawn. But you will need enough light and there is a price to maintain it's beauty.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Great! I'll get some Glossostigma elatinoides from my friend.
I have some APP (Ah-Peh Plant, not sure of the actual name) left after removing the entire spread right where the bare spot in front of the drift wood is located. This is due to some hair algae "attack" during my CO2 refill period (1 week).
So, as soon as I got my DIY light ready, I did some revamp and removed most of the taller/older plants. (APP, Lotus, Java Moss and taller Japonica).
I'll plan out my new scape and hope to get some new plants in.
Well, let's see how it will turn out.

    Cheers,

    Redmond

try to trim the lotus plant if you like to make it grow smaller. Yea, get a nice lawn, maybe with glosso, or hairgrass.
