Very nice rock hardscape.
what is HG?
I felt that M.umbrosum, r. rotundifolia, L. arcuata and aurea, are not suitable for iwagumi scape but who knows I'm also beginner. my 2 cents wortth.
Hey guys.. I had a 15gal tank lying around and was thinking of setting it up emersed (as per T.Barr) Iwagumi style. It took me awhile to find rocks which I thought would look good. So after fiddling with the placement... please take a look and if possible please provide some comments so maybe I can make more adjustments to it if needed. This is actually my first attempt at iwagumi.
Oh and right now this emersed setup includes HC, HG, tenellus, M.umbrosum, glosso, r. rotundifolia, L. arcuata and aurea.
HC at 2 weeks
arcuata, rotundifolia & umbrosum

Thanks shadow. HG is hairgrass. As for the arcuata, umbrosum and aurea well I just thought I'd throw those in and when it comes time to flood I'd take them out and transfer them to pots and leave em outside.

very nice hardscape.. but there seems to be 2 focal point?

he is probably talking about the two big rock on the left and right.

emersed HC grows at the same rate as submersed HC?as in,does it propagate faster?why the choice of using emersed here?thanks for entertaining these questions

Well first of all I did not do this to see whether HC would grow faster emersed than doin it under submersed conditions. Besides this is the first time I used HC so I really don't know the rate at which this plant grows. Perhaps someone with more experience with HC can help answer that for me. As for the reason why I grew it emersed.. well as shadow had mentioned, at this stage I don't need to hook up CO2 do water changes nor add fert'z to help HC carpet my tank. And at this stage I don't have to worry about algae yet. Ofcourse this might not hold true once I start flooding the tank. Still this is an experiment worth taking I would say.![]()

one thing in question is whether the HC will melt once we flood the tank.
I flood my tank 3 days ago, so far I didn't see any melting yet which is good.![]()

Actually.. i think this has alot of potential for a vivarium.

hm..thanks for the insights guys!

My HC melt, start to melt 1 week after flooding, getting worst on the 2nd weeks
. Hopefully new submerse leaves grow before the whole thing melt. I wonder if I did something wrong
Hi danbryans, would like to hear your HC progress.
hey shadow.. i haven't flooded the tank yet. I think i'll flood it after a week or two.

just got info from shrimp999, seems like seachem excell cause HC to melt and that exactly what I did.
