actually mh is ok for a 2 feet. just leave it suspended higher from the tank surface. i regret not buyin mh when i started planted. now i am looking for mh light. if u intend to upgrade to a 4 feet in future yr mh also wont be put to waste.

Get a 70W MH set, hang it high enough and bare with the light spill.
When hanged low enough, it will posses threat as to excessive heat transfer and too intense light.
sorry guys, abit off-topic but dont want to start another thread, just want to know where i can get MH lighting? i have never seen it before in LFS
I'd say hang it at least 30cm away from water surface. Sometimes up to 45cm or more.
There sure will be some spills, but it would worth more than hanged low classic tubes into the tank in terms of effect.
i am using 70w mh light for my 1.5ft setup.
