MH150wx3 (high light setup)

What about just normal setup using HOT5 ?
Is 8 x 39W sufficient?

Depends on what plants you want in your tank. I was using ATI 6x54W for my 4x2x2 and didnt have visible algae.

My friend ordered a Jebo 8 x 39W for his 6 footer.....
It does not have individual reflectors and the tubes are cramped closed to each other
I'm thinking its not enough for his tank...

I was also thinking of having 3 x 150W, but my friend had rushed to get a 8 x 39W Jebo T5 set![]()

I am using 2 x 150W MH for my 6x2x2 and find it more than enough for my setup (Fern, moss, Crypt, Jap hairgrass).
Too much of lighting will cause a lots of algae issue as more light demands more for CO2, and fertilizer. If your CO2 circulation is not good, algae will visit your tank very fast and soon infest everywhere.
I actually rotate both my MH double-end light tube to face left and right , instead of the normal front and back. This way, both light will be able to cover the whole tank.
With MH, you definitely need chiller to cool down the tank, else it will be very diffult to maintain cool and consistent water temp.

Yea, using MH will definitely need a chiller....
Since my friend has already bought the T5 lightset, lets see how it goes after firing it up
I will surely put a thumbs-up to using MH lights for a big tank
