Hi...any comments or suggestions for me for my tank? too bare?

Hi all,
This is my 1st aquarium/planted tank setup at home. I'm new and need to learn some good techniques and useful knowledge in aquascaping from u folks.
My initial plan is to rear CRS but I thought I get my plants ready 1st before adding more spiecies. Currently there are only 1 pleco, one otto, a few malayan young shrimps, 2 baby gurami (i guess so).
I have just started to plant/tie some fissiden to my driftwood and 2 floating water hyacith....I have a bunch of christmas moss too....yet to know how to use it to scape the tank yet...so i just put a side in the tank.
Pardon my poor photo taken using my hp. Feel free to comment or suggest.
Thanks for your attention and thoughts.
Regards

Hi, welcome to planted aquascaping.
Is that water lettuce on top of your tank? As your tank is small in size, the size of that plant is big when compared to your tank, it makes your tank looks small. Suggestion to remove it.
Rocks and placement- The rocks are all roughly the same size, choose rocks that varies in size so you can create a focal point with the main rock. Choose rocks with rougher texture, as your rocks looks too smooth like granite slabs. You can surf around aquatic quotient, they have some useful postings on good placement of rocks.
Driftwood- Nice piece you have there, however unfortunately, the placing of the wood lacks character. Its too horizontal, too parallel when viewed from the front.
Chunk of floating plants- Did you plant them? Try to plant them instead of allowing them to float around, they will grow better and nicer in the long run.
Variety of plants- there are approximately 7 varieties of plants, not too many and not too little, good. But they do not complement each other.
Foreground- Plant some foreground plants.
Adoketa, Breitbinden, Paciquamis, Diplotaenia, Elizabethae, Mendezi, Inka, Agassizi, L046, L066, Crystal Red Shrimps

Hi Marle,
Thanks thanks for your comments.Indeed as per your view, I seem to be quite "unfocus" on the theme or idea I've got. I just place as it is. The lump of plants were given by a friendly folks here. I just thought since I'm new, i would take any for a try.
Great spot on the variety of plants on my tank. In fact, I find it too many. I do like the minimalist kind of aquascape.
For the rocks, I found them on the floor.but wash them before I use it.
For the driftwood(dw) I bought it from thomson. How do you think I should place the dw? The dw happens to have two small flats underneath that allows me to place it right on the bed.
As for the plants, I'm still thinking if I should use it for the bed or I put in riccia.
The temperature of my tank is close to 30deg and I've yet to input any CO2. Wonder if the plants can sustain.
Once again Marle, thanks for all your input and feedback.
