it's an agassizii...not sure about whether it's wild or whether it's inbred till the colours are lost

Hey guys.. a friend of mine got me this male cichlid, i think its probably an Ap. agassizi. I havent seen any photo of any fish online that looks like it though, wondering if this is the wild colouration, or maybe an aquarium variety i just havent seen yet?
Also, the tail looks more oval than lanceolate

It doesn't look like a wild specimen. In our experience, wild caught ones generally have slender bodies. The shape of the tail also looks a little "off".

look more like in-bread. saw once at a local fish shop. the person in charge say it is from indonesia.

No wonder why it looks so different! Its turning out to be pretty entertaining to watch, terrorizing the malayan shrimp and strutting around my community tank![]()
apistos are a very entertaining species to keep and watch =) they're full of character and every fish displays different character traits. i'm glad you're enjoying your fish =)
