With reference to my thread earlier about Fans, HWChoy gave me an idea to use large grid (about 1 inch grids) mesh to replace my glass covers. I'm thinking of stiff metal meshes (coated to prevent prevent rust). Probably some kind of fencing material.
I figure the light blockage can't be worse then the glass I'm using now due to water stains, dust, etc on the glass. Actually, I suspect they'll be less light blockage.
I discussed this with a collegue and he mentioned something he devised for his Koi when he was younger. He used coarse fishing line threaded through a wooden frame to create a mesh cover, much like a tennis racket.
Now, the problem is securing this cover to the glass braces as it's meant to prevent an arowana from jumping out. Any ideas? It should be easy to secure and remove. Probably some kind of clips, latch, etc.
Thanks.
