Some pics of my shellies and tankmates in a 3ft.
    inhabitants:
2 X L. kungweensis (the only true shellies in my tank. )
2 X Julidochromis regani (Kipili) (not a shellie. They prefer rocks.)
    5 X L. caudopunctatus (semi-shell dweller)
    3 X Synodontis Multipunctatus (catfish)
    1 X Synodontis flavitaeniatus (catfish)

would like to get more fishes, but there is quite a fair bit of aggression going on even for tiny cichlids. hahaha

    L. kungweensis

    Julidochromis regani (Kipili)

caudopunctatus about to get into a skirmish with a kungweensis

A pair of synodontis mutipunctatus and caudopunctatus

    another pic

synodontis flavitaeniatus. very shy. very nocturnal. not a tanganyika native.

    The whole view.

i like the way your tank is set up, with large rocks around the perimeter and the centre area set up like a "stage" =)

wow the rocky setup is beautiful.
Are the Synodontis Multipunctatus (catfish) and Synodontis flavitaeniatus (catfish) hardworking? I am looking for some catfish or algae eater to clean up my shellies tank. Where did you get your rocks from? I am rescaping my shellies tank, need some rocks too.

Stormchild, very nice looking rock scape. How about a couple more smaller rocks in the middle? Sometimes the shellies might start to dig under the rocks when they can't find the shelles.

Richard, for those big river rocks, go to those flower shops like Far East. All sorts of sizes for you to choose from.

With all catfishes, they are good for cleaning up uneaten food.

Thanks for the compliments and constructive suggestions everyone.

the multipunctatus synos are very greedy for leftovers... but they are messy eaters. If you want to clear algae, use nerite snails. far more effective than catfishes.

the flavitaeniatus is "invisible" most of the time.

like what Valice said, rocks from florists. cheap and good.

hmmm, will think about it. was thinking of adding a couple more shells though. but the idea was to keep the foreground and middle relatively clear and open for them to swim around.

    Harlow Stormchild,

Seen the picture of the Synodontis flavitaeniatus.. Seem to be very shy in your tank.. Keeps hiding in that corner.. Last time when it was in my tank.. he will surely swim out of the cave during meal time and fight with my corys for food leh.. Is he doing that in your tank as well now?

    Cheers
