Bro Nick, just curious. Do you raise these live BS to be bigger prior feeding to the adults? or as soons as it hatches?

Isn't newly hatched BS seems a little small for adults?

Raising freshly hatched BBS is not easy...I have tried a few time..Normally they die over 3 days of hatching...Anyway,feeding these small BBS to the adults Apistogramma is ok...Just that they have to take a few more mouth of BBS to fill them up....
And yes..Feed them when they are freshly hatched and small.

These books available in Sngapore? Quite pricy on Amazon but considering thousand over pages. Guess may be worth the money

Bro Nick: Thanks for the information.

Bro Milk: Maybe will try raising some BBS. Got plenty of Green Water from my goldfish tub.. hehee

    Hi Titus:
They are only available in a few hand of Singapore owners...And for Mergus Cichlid Atlas 1...Think it's out of production(I Think and there no re-print..).And for Atlas 2, don't think you can find it available in the local market as yet

Oh the topic of the books, anyone near Yishun can lend me Cichlid Atlas 1 for a few days.
BBS would be most nutritious for fries about 12hours after they hatch. After that they would have used up the protein. I sometimes add rinsed daphnia in my tanks and a small population manages to stay alive so I've a small little source of live food for the apistos.

I'm skeptical about feeding live foods purchased from most LFSes especially bloodworms. So i feed these in very small amounts like once in a month or something.

Well, as mine apostos are still fries. I am feeding them BBS freshly brewed daily. Even got 2 hatcheries to stagger the hatching.

Looking forward to test out the Fresh Water BS and see if it is just as yummy for the fries.

my elizabethae, thankfully, are not picky about their food at all...so far they attack eagerly my decap bs eggs, freeze dried cyclopeeze, cyclopeeze flakes and tetra pro colour all were eaten readily without having to starve or acclimitize them, especially the decap bs eggs...no live/frozen food for my elizabethae as i'm afraid of internal bacteria.

thanks for the advice on the bbs Dimas, so far i've only raised cacatuoides and bitaeniata fry on decap bs eggs and have had really good results with it! i guess i'll worry about my bbs hatching if i even get a spawn. my pair are reluctant to spawn it seems, taking turns to be interested but never both at the same time. when i actually get another set of eggs maybe i'll set up a hatchery...but even so, my other fish, fry and the adult elizabethae pair still thrive on the decap bs eggs... so far in my 4 tanks, it has a 100% success rate as a staple and fry food so i swear by it

Illumnae...I will actually suggest that you separate the pair 1st...for maybe 1~2 weeks...than pair them up again...It helps when spawning Elizabethae..

haha ok i'll try that...cycling a separate tank for my bitaeniata fry at the moment, when it's fully cycled i'll try putting the female there if i can manage to catch her out...my tank is tricky to get fish out of

    thanks for the advice!
