haha yup, all the money and effort spent in making the fish comfortable is justified when the cloud of fry come swimming out of the cave i'm quite glad i used africana in all my apisto tanks right from the start...just bought another pack to set up a fry raising tank and am cycling it now.

Anyway, put in a thin layer of sera peat in the OHF. Will monitor the PH again tomorrow.

Hi nicktc, before your A elizabethae fry are hatched, get some java moss. The moss is an excellent hiding place from predators as well as feeding ground due to the presence of infusoria.

Oh, most importantly don't forget to buy some brine shrimp eggs and a hatchery to hatch baby brine shrimps. The fry won't be able to grow by eating those micro-organisms alone. You can get from Aquanova Trading

i'd recommend decapsulated brine shrimp eggs over hatching bbs. also available from aquanova. hassle free fry feeding, and the parents and fry both love it! never seems to run out too...my 100g bottle has lasted me 6 months as a daily staple food for 2 pairs of apistos and whatever fry they produce...and it's not even half gone yet

A word of caution. Not all apisto eats decapsulated brine shrimp eggs. What mights suits Illumnae's fishes might not be what your apisto like to eat. I have rear apisto that won't even touch any food except live bbs. So do take note.

decapsulated brine shrimp eggs doesn't need hatching and can be feed directly to the apisto. (Take a bit and soak them in some water before feeding the fishes)

no offence taken =) was just sharing my own personal experiences as none of the fish i've kept have rejected decap bs eggs (including the non-apistos), but i have heard of situations whereby a fish refused to take it until some conditioning was done. i guess in a small way fish are like us too...some of us like KFC and some don't!

2: Mergus Cichlid 2(which i personally find disappointing with the picture.)

The guru has spoken. I agree with Dimas. Even the adult pair might be fussy of food too.

I am feeding the adult pair live BS.

The male will come out to the open to feast. The female stays put over her nest. Hopefully, some BS will swim close to her.

The problems with Apistogramma Elizabethae is that they are very fussy with their food and it's very very prone to internal parasite...That's why i don't normally feed my Apistogramma Elizabethae with Live Adults BS,Frozen BS or Frozen Blood worm...Their diet is Freshly brewed BBS,ADA series of food...And 1 more thing to note is that i have notice that live feed actually induce spawning more often beside regular water change...


And NIc!!!!! I'm not much of a GURU!!!!!
