If you want the hairgras to start throwing out runners, give them a crew-cut. Use a pair of scissors and thrim the leaves till they are short. As for hc, i've no prior expereince with the plant so i can't help you there.

for HC, yes it will grow again, but dont cut too short otherwise you will be having hard time to plant it at other place this thing is small ad float easily

By the way, nice scape. I wonder if yo put more small rock at right hand side will make it look better. Smooth of the rock transistion to HC

oh thanks for the great tip chongyu and shadow!

thanks uklau for the kind comment. ;p

actually when i was placing the hardscapes, i wanted the right side to be free of any small rocks as it is where the Buddha reside, pure and bright with not much distraction.. but now looking at it it does look a bit unbalanced , so will try to add some small rocks soon.. ha..

As you are inspired by sanzon iwagumi, don't you want to get a smaller stone to complete the stone arrangement?

    Nice layout

    thanks FireSpitter and zenscape!

hm, i am thinking of adding a third stone, but not sure where to place it eh, any ideas?

was thinking of behind the smaller rock at the left to replace the small red one, do u guys think it will make it cluttered?

Get one that is only about 1/4 the size of your smallest rock now... then place it right at the back, on the side of the smallest rock... between the line of river and land...

This way if you looks straight in... you can see all 3 rocks.. medium size rock (medium range) -> smallest rock (farthest from the glass) -> biggest rock (neareast to glass)....
Thats my suggestion.. but try and see how it looks first... sometimes i just play around with the rocks until i see something i like.

    Neat! Very nice!

Just a comment, the right foreground looks abit overwhelming.

Bro, your front too overcrowded with HC liao, if at the start you got plant supporting rocks in front, then the scape wont be so out when it in full bloom, but afterall it amazing that your HC creep under such nano tank.

    EXCELLENT..
There nothing you cant do, is whether you want to do it or not.

    my little advise.
    the hc looks quite thick
its about time you start trimming some off.
if not the bottom layers will soon start to die off
