    are t5s enough for 2.5ht tanks? or need to use mh? anyone got pic to show?

    IMO, never use fluorescent tube for tank more than 2ft tall. Higher intensity doesn't mean deeper penetration.

    Not too sure if that works for low tech tank. Let's hear what others have to say.

    I would say Wattage is everything instead of type of light tube.

    Hey, I have this question in my mind too! I have a 2 ft deep tank and was thiking of MH and then someone says T 5 worth a look too. Anyhow, from the internet they say wattage is a general guideline but not all lightings are created equally. MH and T5 have high lumen rating compared to the others, watt for watt. Decision decision....

    I think it will be nice if someone do a cost per lumen in terms of cost of owner ship and utility bill, as well as other important features, and place this thread as sticky for begginers like us.

    You hear me, aquatic gardening veterans out there?
