cute fry titus. how old are they?
Finally am able to take some pictures of my very first few pieces of apistogramma Hongsloi. In fact, they are my first encounter with apistos. Came as a brood of close to 30 fries. Only left with 7 now but all very stable.

cute fry titus. how old are they?
Congrats. Nice looking fry.
How did you lose so many of them?
Chris
oh if it's from Eman it's probably 2-4 months old by now =) i think i know which batch of fry they are. so you're the mystery batch buyer of the fry!
hope you manage to get at least a couple of good quality fishfrom the batch =) it's quite fun raising the fish from young and watching them grow isn't it?

Titus,
Congrats bro, nice batch of fries. Eman got quality fish so rest assured that they will turn out nicely. Their parents were beautiful. Sad to hear you lost 20+ pcs. Take good care of these little beauties.

Now no longer mystery buyer2-4 months? wow, that's a while. This fellas sure grow slowly, now about 1 cm only.
Yupz, hope can at least get a good pair out of them. A trio will be great!!!
Was admiring the beauty of these fishes and what made me decided to get my hands wet was because they are fries. Just love the process of grooming them from infancy to adulthood. Very fun and satisfying!!!WOOHOO!!
Thanks dude.
How did I lose them? Plain stupidity.
The tank I prepared was an IOS. I thought the current was pretty mild as I switch to a really small powered pump. Guess I was wrong, the fries were stressed by the current.
Took me a while to notice as they were so small and I had a really hard time counting them every day. They can really hide between the ADA Substrate. in fact count until my eyes crossed.

if you look around this forum you'll see the parent pair. i managed to see them personally when i was at Biotope with Eman, and i assure you that they are good quality fish so the offspring should have inherited some good genes =)
Hongsloi are indeed slow growers...i'm glad that you have the patience to see them through their growth and enjoy the process!
wow if there were really still that small they shouldn't have been transported at all...i think alot of your loss was probably due to the stress of transporting them to your new tank and acclimitizing them to the new surroundings. i'm sure the strong current played a part too.
i'm glad you still have some surviving ones, and i hope that you'll get your wish of a pair or trio amongst them =)

Wow, this thread has moved on so fast since this evening!!
Thanks for all your compliments![]()
Rather pay more for quality apistos....my main motto
The fries are about 4months now? Hongsloi is one of the slower growing species,
unlike cacatuoides or agassizii whose fries grow much faster!!
I miss the parent pair, they're superb specimens!! i'm sure the fries will grow up to inherit their beauty!!
All the best in your jorney of apisto keeping and wish you'll have a spawn soon![]()

So these are the 2nd batch spwans?
Agreed. Rather spend a little more for nice specimens then to buy cheap ones. Later regret have to sell again
Thanks bro!!! Thank you for starting the poison
Incidently, where did the parents went?
Congrats, bro Titus.
Nice fries!!![]()
