Here's some shots of my newly acquired algae crew. they finished up the hair algae in my tank, so today i dropped half an algae wafer in for them. they're cute when they swarm for food like that!

    At first, just 2 came:

    Then more showed up:

    The swarm:

Poor Axelrodia riesei watching forlornly behind because he has no food:

wow. do they do a good job? because most people would use yamatos.
first time heard of using tiger shrimps.
would you be keeping them after they clear your hair algae?

yup they do a very good job. 12 hours and all my hair algae was gone.

i didn't want to use yamatos as this tank is very small (25 cm cube) and thus every fauna that goes in will be something that contributes to the aesthetics. it's why i chose tiger shrimp as they're currently the only shrimp that i like the look of. i wanted a tiger oto in there as well, but by the time the tank finished cycling, everywhere has sold out. and that answers your next question about whether i'll be keeping them: yes! haha...the hair algae was gone half a week ago since i introduced them on saturday, it's why i'm feeding them algae wafers now

i'm pretty sure cherries and malayans eat hair algae too. in fact, i was told tiger shrimp weren't very effective in eating hair algae, but i bought them anyway as i liked the look and didn't mind them taking longer to eat the hair algae...but it seems that contrary to popular belief, they finished the hair algae really fast

nice tiger shrimps you have there, some tigers sold in lfs have very poor striped lines. Yours is good.

Wow bro, very nice tiger shrimps....
Mind to share your water parameter? Heard that tigers are very hard to breed in tank...

    Bro Illumnae,

Did i see a female apisto in the background? Was thinking of throwing in a few shrimpys with my apistos but am afraid they become Fish Food.

don't put shrimp with your apistos. they won't necessarily become fish food but they'll be torn apart for fun.

the only other fauna in this tank are 5 Axelrodia riesei and some ramshorn snail contaminants that i'm slowly getting rid of. hopefully i can find a tiger oto to add into this tank

Thanks for the advice. Was thinking may look nice having them together. Guess is a bad idea.

I will enjoy these shrimps on forum in the time being. No capacity for new entries.
