shrimps are sensitive creatures, so make sure cycle your tank properly. As far as I know shrimps will swim actively during mattting season which is not your case and shock due to suddent water parameter change.
Did you acclimatize it properly?

the tank has been used for about 1 month....previously had 5 shrimps ...3 died .... the other 2 seems ok ...i also have about 20+ cardinal tetras in my 2 ft tank ...using eihem 2213 , 2 fan coolers ,
PH is 6.6 , temp 26 ....i put the bag into the water with some holes at the bottom for about 1 hour ... than i drain out all the water and dump the prawns into the tank

you mean you got tetras in your tank with shrimps? thats not advisable though...

Just a beginner advise from my experience... Its not advisable to put fish together with shrimps around, the tend to attack the smalls....

definitely, you should separate fishes from shrimps

About your shrimps, perhaps it will do you and your fauna a lot of good if you could read up on their requirements and/or compatibility before purchasing them. Some homework before buying anything would ensure a better chance of success.![]()
sorry about the ling ...got too used to it in the other forums i visit ..
in fact i read throgh quite a number of threads and even visited the the aquarium before i made the decision ...seems like most forumers say tetras and shrimps are compatible ...even the aquarium has a show tank with both species inside .

Then perhaps you are not reading enough?

BTW, this is not an absolute, but it can be minimised if your tank is VERY heavily planted. So your milage may vary.
Also, it would be good if you can find out what species of shrimp you intend to keep and read about the specific species as diffrent shrimps require different and specific requirements.

20+ tetras in 2 feet tank is too many.
Have you checked your ammonia level?
ammonia is 0
