Does anyone have any strange/funny/disastrous happenings to share?
One of mine was that I was using a diy co2 with one of those boyu diffusors, but for some reason, the co2 wasn't coming out of the diffusor...so I tried squeezing, and nothing, shaking the bottle, and still nothing...so at last resort, I thought that the mixture was wrong - (I was still a noob then) and then proceeded to unscrew the cap......and then the bottle which was 3/4 full of 3 day old yeast solution proceeded to fizz like a shaken coke bottle uncapped....and it expanded so fast, the solution proceeded to fountain out of the bottle, into my hands and sprayed on the wall....until the reaction had died down, and when it was done, my wall and hands and floor were wet with the stinky sugar yeast solution, which was extremely stinky, to say the least, and attracted ants.... I had to mop the whole place up, but the stink could not be removed...and so I slept that night with the stinky smell of yeast and air freshener... I tried a few more times and got the diy co2 correct later on, but I'll never forget that experience, and I got a co2 cylinder a few weeks later. It's safer, less smelly and worth the price.
lol, that must've been quite an experience... I've got one most of the regulars know pretty well but i'll repeat it:

Ok I may ruffle some feathers here. Recently went to one famous LFS. Can't believe my eyes. Wild guppys for $1 each??!! No not endlers, the ones you catch from the longkang.
Also I recently conducted my very own nuclear testing on my rummy nose when I tried to treat the tank with 'Anti Ich Solution'. Bummer.
Mine had to do with a water changing (wc) experience.
As with many busy hobbyist, I tried to make mine with least hassle as much as possible, when it comes to wc. So I had a hose that feeds permanently to my sump, used when I wc in the main tank. One fine day, I forgot to turn the pump in the sump back on while water is being refilled in the sump, while I went on to wash my other equipments......
As you can imagine, when I came back (only about 5 minutes, FORTUNATELY), the balcony floor was already flooded ........
Irony is that it was supposed to be efficient, and hassle-free, ... DUH ..., had to spend more time cleaning up the whole place! zzz

funny experience of mine is a shrimp eating lizard... I purchased cherry shrimps before when I went to thailand, and slowly I saw them dissapear ... I could not find any dead shrimps or what, then one day when check on my aquarium late at night and I turned on the lights I saw this household gecko camping on top of my HOB and picking on the shrimps that were climbing the foam (whichi placed on the downpour of the HOB).
funny thing is I have a picture of it ! hehe cant access my photobucket becaue of the firewall here in the office, but Il try to post the picture.

That's actually a really cool looking gecko! i wouldn't mind if it was eating my shrimps
its a common house gecko here, i think it just got fat and pretty from all the shrimps it ate, hehe

Hmm... is it a "tokai" gecko by any chance? They used to be common over here, especially in the area i used to live. Got quite big too around 10cm...
Im not sure what the species of gecko is ehheehehe but there are a lot of them in our area.

Fish all KO. 1 block of Solid CO2 dissolved in 24L of water can make a rather high ppm reading for the dissolved gas.

It was too fast to affect temperature much as the CO2 diffused into the water. Yes, it was smoky at first then as the temperature drops slightly, not so much, because the CO2 mix into the water. In an instant, pH had dropped several points, fish all at the surface and you can pick them out with your fingers.
I don't know about plant being happy, probably not. I immediately did a massive water change, when I saw the fish at the surface.

This is another disaster.
I was bringing my filter to wash at the sink, but somehow being clumsy it slipped out of my hands, shattering over the floor and spilling sponge and bio rings all over the place.
Guess I'm in the market for a new filter.

Sunfire, that sounds familiar...I dropped a fully loaded EDEN501, and on my ankle, no less!... Ended up with a wet and dirty floor, filter media all over, a cracked filter and a swollen ankle!
