Thanks to Vinz and Simon for your patience, now I am able to show everyone my first planted tank (or should I say second, I first failed horribly).

My biggest thanks to KF, otherwise I would not have succeeded.

My humble tank is now 2 months old and its a 2.5 feeter. Hope you enjoy it and I appreciate feedback and comments. These will help me improve.

Your tank looks good.... Nice arrangments.... but with the plants growing to the top... do you feel the bottom plants will be deprived of light? It looks pretty dark to me.... I could be wrong
    Cheers!!

Hi Geoffrey, nice clean tank w/o algae. And I always like the jungle look.
BTW - is the Hydrocotyle leucocephala easy to grow?
    Keep it up. Cheers!

    Hi All,

kubrich, thanks. Don't be jealous, you will have a beautiful tank too.

sherchoo and PeterGwee, yes, it is a bit too dark with too much top growth from my N. japonica and Frogbit. Snip, snip time this weekend : )

    c.y., I have 4 x 36W PL lights running 10hrs a day.

    eggz, thanks.

Juggler, not really clean. Actually have some BBA that you cannot see. You probably wouldn't like H. leucocephala because roots hang out from the nodes like Cabomba sp too.

It is natural for H. leucocephala to have roots at the internodes. It'll be strange without the roots.

You are have tremendous growth in your tank. Well done!

    Juggler,

Search forum for H. leucocephala. Was a thread a few weeks back regarding this plant.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

In my experience, H. leucocephala is not so difficult. It needs good light. It also sufficient nutrients in the water because I think it primarily obtains nutrient from water than substrate.

    Juggler,

There is a very nice alternative for H leucocephala. It's H. verticillata, about 15-25cm long, umbrella like plant. The brighter the light the shorter the stem. Ideal for your 2.5ft : )

    bclee,

    Thanks.
