Hi guys, just thrown 5 CRS grade B&C into my tank with Yamato, cherries, Malayan, Orange, Ninja, Tiger and Bee. Have cardinal tetra, galaxies, ott and SAE as well. Not sure can survive.... cross my fingers

Anyone any experience with keeping CRS in planted tank with other fauna?

CRS is the most sensitive of all shrimps. Your water condition must be top notch! I used to have around 20 when I started out. Then, around 1-2 died every week. Now, I don't see anymore dead bodies but the numbers seemed to dwindle to less than 5. I am not sure if they are hiding because I don't see all of them as my moss is rather dense.

To prevent death from stress, I would rather not keep CRS with any other fauna except otto. SAE can grow rather big.

    Good luck!

So far I only saw my SAE eating dead shrimps... saw some some baby cherries and ok... will monitor and see if need to take out some SAE. So far they are pretty small in size as I do not feed them food.. those pellets I gave to other fishes all finished before they have the chance.

Have first tried my hands on crs too before rearing other shrimps. The water parameters has to be in tip-top condition in order for them to breed & thrive.
    Good luck, Bro.

Better keep an eye on the SAE, apart from that, it'd be good if you can monitor the water parameters with test kits = ] Like what all the other bros mention here, CRS will need tip top water conditions, not just to survive, but also to breed.. Welcome to the ADDICTION!! and GOOD LUCK!! = ]

SAE can be quite difficult to catch when they grow bigger.

Bros, another question, do i buy food like mosura to feed the CRS? Will other shrimps and fishes compete with CRS for these food?

IMO you want keep CRS, keep it with solely only CRS and tankmates are only otos. mixing shrimps and fishes together is not a good idea. although the fishes might not bother the shrimps, the shrimps will feel stress too.

Sometimes my OTO will share the food with CRS. It is better in this way as they help to finish up the uneaten food. CRS are not very big eaters.

Don't lose heart bro, test the water parameters first and evaluate/assess the situation? Did you use Mosura's Bioplus during your setup? It's been known to make CRS keeping much easier..

Read from another forum, many has very good result from i, so i bought a bottle from C328 and tried, uncle says very good for sensitive fish or high bioload tanks too. It says on packaging that Mosura Bioplus purifies water which suit the requirement of CRS. It's not cheap though, but judging from the improvement in my tanks and fellow forumers, I'd say it's worth it..

    Cheers

I believe its sort of like those water conditioners that reduce the nitrite and nitrate levels and increase kh for example... Anyway, me just try and see how many CRS can survive for 1 week. Today see only 1 actively cleaning my tank

Know a friend of mine who did not do anything particular (ie. no chiller, no mosura food, no bioplus, never measure pH or kH, tank temperature lowest is 27.5 degrees) to make environment suitable for crs, but yet her crs are breeding & now she has baby crs shrimplets. So lucky of my friend!!

It depends on which grade and strains. I was talking to Indo CRS breeder, he can breed 15,000 grade C CRS that is commonly found in our market that is a couple of dollars. But he cannot manage hino and mosura. Not all CRS afterall is CRS.

Since the pro is here, is it true then that the higher the grade, the tougher it is to keep and breed them? Or isit an illusion as they are so expensive?
