    Width 30-35 cm

Aponogeton ulvaceus is one of the most beautiful species in the Aponogeton family. The leaves are delicate light-green and transparent with fluted margin. A single root can produce more than 40 leaves. This means that the plant is best as a solitary plant in large aquariums. It is relatively tolerant, and thrives in both soft and hard water, particularly if CO2 is added. There are many varieties of Aponogeton ulvaceus, some of which need a dormant period when the root does not produce leaves. [TROPICA]

Mine already flowering about 8 - 10 stalks...

Anyone want to share how to cultivate and propagate them? Especially how to plant the seeds? Any care need to be taken?

    Sorry for my English...

Hi Jeff, How are you? U have to wait for the seeds to ripen i.e turn brown. Then sow them onto damp soil or mud.... It's easy to propagate... No worries!

    Merry Christmas!

Re: Aponogeton ulvaceus culture (56k warning)

    HI,
    1. Will the seeds turn dark brown with only 1 plant? I read that this plant will need more than 1 plant in the same tank to fertilise.
    2. My plant leaves are turning brown. Any idea what is the problem?

Not sure if it's the same case for aponogeton crispus but I've managed to allow the seeds to ripe and fall back into the tank by itself, then it germinates without much care needed as it grew really fast.

Angus, I do not understand point 1. But for point 2, does turning brown refer to just colour change or colour change with the death of the leaves? If it refers to the former then it is simply okay. But for the latter, I'm not too sure about that.

    brown plant.jpg
see brown leaves in front. the leaves at the back look greener but are quite brown also, only appearing green from the camera lights...
what do the brown leaves indicate? what can be done?

I can't really tell if its natural or dying back to be honest. But if the leaves rot then its dying back. If it doesn't then luckily its normal so don't freak. Sometime plants take up a different hue due to stronger lighting allowing them to produce more colours.
But what I seem to see from the photos is that there seems to be algae growth on that large front leaf. Like BBA.
