Siphon the original water (whatever is left of it) to your new tank if possible.

Tank started to leak.
Need to change to new tank but not good many place to hold. Also due to work commitment I need to have a quick change over.
Can I get a new tank. Get used soil (ADA or GeX), use the same canister and Bed Fluidizer filters. Top up a bit with GeX shrimp substrate and then after a day put my CRS back ?

Maybe can get a used tank from fellow board members rather than get a new tank.
Just my 2 cents thoughts.

My was a new tank. Only lasted for 6 months and now it is already leaking. Must have gotten a lemon. Did not move it or anything, don't know why it is leaking.
Anyway, would do as suggested.
Use a used ADA soil from a buddy selling at the market place.
Then use the water from the tank and also the used canister. Hope the shrimps survive the migration.

I think the best way is to get fill your tank with new soil but you will need to cycle it... The only reason why I suggest is it saves you the problem of changing your soil again... The soil can only lower PH for around 18 months...
But then again your soil is only 06 months old it should be able to last you another 12 months... You decide...
For reusing your current soil / used soil you will need to scoop out your CRS first & place them in a holding area...
Transfer as much water from your current tank somewhere first... Next scoop the sand or add used soil to your new tank... Now add the water to your new tank. The water will be murky but it would be worse if you add soil to your tank when there is water... Let the water settle before you put your CRS in your new tank...
For new soil you will need to go through the usual process of cycling the tank but it should be shorter as the water is the same & you would've had BB in your canister... But it will still take a while to cycle... Best way is to use test kits to confirm...
Make sure that the whole process is less than 04 hours or else the BB in your canister will die...
If you are worried you can run the canister in the CRS holding area if this is possible...

Glad to report that I have successfully migrated my CRS into a new tank and the CRS has survived without problem.
1. Setup new tank and put in 80% old substrate (from a fellow AQ member) and 20% (2 Red GeX substrate for shrimps).
2. Put in NEW water and allow the tank to settle down for a day
3. Take out 70% of the water from new tank and transfer old water to new tank. Start transferring the old canister filter and Fluidizer bed filter to the new tank.
4. Hold the CRS in a pail with old water
5. Allow the NEW setup to settle down (a few hours) and then transfer the CRS in.
So far no issue (2 weeks already).
Thankyou all for the recommendations.

That's great to hear!!
