Ooooooooooo.... nice. I like the Vals(?) in the back. Wish mine will grow as well. []

I was wondering what happened to Victor. Haven't seen him in here for a while.

    overall it's nice

the background seems to be lacking of plants (newly planted ?)

Wah, Simon, so fast, I just posted in arofanatics and it's here already...heheh..

I've been reading this forum everyday, but nothing to contribute...heheh...Too outdated....

Actually, the background was supposed to be plastic mesh with java moss. But the tank is quite hot at 28.5-30C. And the fact that the java moss I used wasn't too healthy to begin with, so they turned brown.

Rather than let them rot in the tank, I took them out last night. Quite urgently too because I noticed a new 2.5" clown loach had gotten stuck behind the mesh.

Being an aro tank, can't really have too much tall plants in the background, so I'm still wondering what to put behind.

Those tapegrass really sends runners very fast and also the growth is crazy. So far, giving them trims almost every week. I've also been removing runners that move out from the back of the tank, trying to keep them at the back as far as possible.

So, the back ground is a little bare because I just took out a lot of the runners last night.

The tank looks yellowish. Using warm lights? But to create a comfortable environment for the arowana, lights cannot be too bright right?

I have 6x36W FL lights for the tank. 3 are osram daylight and 3 are osram floura, supposedly for aquariums and indoor plants.

Maybe I'll just change all to daylight tubes at 6 mths to see if it makes a difference. The floura light gives off a violet glow. Kelvins is not stated for this tube.

I've been dosing JBL ferropol and alternating with Dr Mallick's lushgro. But the red lily doesn't seems to be growing well. The varigated lily's doing fine though

Vican, do the Chan way and put a plastic strip in front of the vals. Stops the runners cold and creates a denser wall of vals...

Where did you find the Osram Floura?

Stick a root monster (or equivalent) or two around the roots of the lily. I've noticed that my own baby lilies, remain dwarfed when shaded, until I trim the larger plants and more light gets to them.

I bought the osram fluora from this osram distributor near lavender MRT.
They carry quite a range of osram stuff. But no 6500K MH bulbs..

    I remember I bought all 6 tubes for $4x.

I've stuck 2 jobe sticks near the roots of the lily, but no reaction from the plant.

I also noticed that there are green stuff on the new leaves of the lily. Is it some kind of disease? Bought it from Ah Pek. Last one at that time and planted in one of the show tanks.

Maybe time to give the tapegrass another trim...

I'll go get some black acrylic soon. Good idea!

    Why black? Transparent less obvious.

Jobe Sticks only contains N, P and K. Root monsters, etc, contain the other trace ferts too and usually less P. Watch your PO4. My PO4 hit the roof after I used Jobe Sticks.

What do you mean green stuff? Not algae?

I have black gravel, so black or transparent should be ok.
Maybe I'll get a pc cut at serangoon north.

So far, PO4 in the tank is 0.25ppm. Nitrate is 20ppm

Well, the water conditions are not quite stable. Couple of weeks ago, I treated the whole tank for camallanus infection. The treatment involves 100% water change 24 hrs after the dosing of medication.

I did 2 50% water change the next day after medication and subsequently, I've been changing 30-40% of the water, initially 2x a week, now 1x a week.

There are 6 clown loaches, 5 SAEs, 2 otos and 4 yamatoes (est) in the tank.
