Just curious, are you looking from a profitable or non-profitable point of view?
Hi folks,
what do you people think about the increasingly depressing issue on environment? my thoughts are that here in singapore, with the absence of any prominent campaign on the 3Rs, is becoming less and less conscious about simpliest things such as recycling waste products.
as part of my community involvement project, I am looking at instilling and inculcating behaviours in primary school children. through various initiations, like promoting the 3Rs by education and making their surroundings more convenient through ways like placing more recycling bins around in schools, I am hoping that these children will grow up with environmentally-conscious habits.
what do you people think about this idea? in your eyes, how feasible can it be? give me your opinions and feedback and any suggestions you have on this problem.
Just curious, are you looking from a profitable or non-profitable point of view?

Yeah, you can show the kids how much trash is left behind from that clown Mr Ronald's big breakfast set!
well first I would like to find out where I can recycle batteries, including NiCd and Li+
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Hi folks,
I understand your concerns to this thread. I just want to hear your opinions and know how to recycle reduce and reuse to save the world. Here my opinions:
Recycle, reduce, re-use
The whole idea is to get as many people to be educated and produce less waste.
1) Community and ministry of environment need to do more.
a) Insufficient category of recycle. Bigger centralised bin may be set up
near school or MRT/bus interchange with more then the present category of glass, plastic, paper. Increase to have metal, batteries
b) Centralised collection centre like half way house, salvation army for Bulky items like electrical goods, clothes, furniture which can be recycle to the less privileges. More awareness required if these centres are already doing them. MOEnv can publish them in the papers.
2) Buy better quality goods that last longer and repair them as far as possible.
3) Banned disposable especially utensils. Bring your own utensils.
Charge fees if required. Package food items to use paper based rather then styloform boxes, bring your own container or get charge for it.
4) Change of habit
a) change to use handkerchief instead of tissue.
Wash up after meal instead of wipping with tissue with convenience.
More wash area and make them common facilities at food court and hawker centre. Tear tissue into half if necessary. Blow nose into the basin instead of tissue when necessary.
b) reduce use of toilet paper and tissue in rest rooms.
5) Diapers Vs clothes. Land fill Vs Water. Need new invention.
Target to reduce as much litter as possible. Limit trash to less than 1/4 bag per person per day.
agree?
