Very interesting about the coffee powder. Where did you get the idea from?
Would love to expand my pathetic emmersed collections...currently housed in a one foot cube using garden soil mixed with coffee powder..seems to have something to reduce the pH level..

Well, coffee are known for its acidity, right? and therefore should be able to reduce the pH..my mixture is like a peat swap sometimes...and of course the high humidity of the tank helps...

This is an interesting idea.
Well, I do know some folks add leftover tea leaves to their house plants, now I guess I know why they do that.

I've heard about it before...but why use coffee when you can replace with peat instead?
I had rather brew and drink the coffee.![]()

That sounds good. I think I have read somewhere where folks use coffee as ground for gardening purposes.
Not sure if this is the one: http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/compost.asp
Hi Wynx,
Slightly off-topic here, hope you don't mind but since you mentioned no meat...
I read about some folks adding dried liver to their emersed crypts as source for N and P, just wondering if anyone here is doing that?
