Hi Kenn,
As a guide, you can follow the timing that you have set for your lighting reason being the plants will make use of Co2 to make foods when there is light source.

Lights are usually on for 8hrs. What most hobbyist do is to have the CO2 and light share the same timer, therefore both on simultaneously. Alternatively, some say to on the CO2 half an hour to an hour in advance so as CO2 is being absorbed readily for the plants intake and to have CO2 turn off in advance of lights so as to lessen CO2 being lost (2 timers needed for individual products)...
Months ago, I've got quite a massive algae problem. Quite a no. of lfs uncles advised me to try to turn on for 4hrs, off for 4hrs then on again for 4hrs. I've been trying that since. Algae lessen and my plants thrive. And being a typical S'porean, I've also put in the CO2 advance ON and OFF method. So far so good.
