I will feed my adult pair twice a day with 4 pieces of tetra bits each time and live bbs on weekends.
My juvenile is like bottomless pit,at least 3 times a day with decap BBS and at times may go up to 4 feed.

    Wow Bro..

Haha.. Still got supper time ah? Are their tummies very round then? Or perhaps each time you feed them with lesser quantity? Cause for my apistos.. Even when I feed them once a day.. their tummies become very round le after the meal..

    Regards

I fed them twice daily. Breakfast and dinner, usually flake or bits.
On weekends they get frozen bloodworm.

Usually i feed my apisto with either tetrabits or the Brine shrimp once everyday and this ensures that the food will be finished immediately. When i overfeed them, they will waste the food and make the water smelly.

I fed them twice(sometimes 3 times a day) with decap bbs, hikari micro pellets and algae wafers. Also, blood worm once a week. Now the male fish looks to have a beer belly.

Apisto in the wild forage for food most of the time. Food is normally scarce throughout the year only abundance for a period. When the flood plains are flooded during the monsoon season by almost 14 large tributaries, insects move away from the ground and up onto tress. Ants shift their colony from ground level upwards. Crickets, grasshoppers, etc etc can be found mostly on trees during the flooding season.

Even the narrowest of the tributaries can span 10miles wide. The flood can invade the forest a few KM inwards. This is the time where fishes consume the abundance food provided. Insects that fall into the water, washed down by torrent currents . Apisto feeds & breeds readily in this season. That could also be understood why when we stimulate the coming of the monsoon season in our tanks and the increase of food, it triggers the breeding cycle.

Therefore there is no need to overfeed your apisto seeing that normally the number of feeding times range from 1-3 which seems perfect for our busy schedule. As long as the food are consume 5mins into the tank i don't see any problem with the amount. Just beware of excess food that might foul the tank or picked up by apisto during foraging which may cause internal parasites.

    Cheers!
