My pair of Apistogramma agassizii 'Tefe' (wild) succesfully spawned . I estimate the clutch at about 40-50 fry. They're just into the 3rd day of the free swimming stage and they're tiny compared to my cacatoides fry.

My LFS said that F1 fry are much harder to raise then the commercial strains. If this is true, I'd appreciate any advice from all you more experienced bros as to the do's and don'ts in order to keep my fry survival rate high.

    thanks

Why did your LFS mentioned that wild apisto fries are more difficult to raise? I'm puzzled and at the same time interested to know where did he got his information from? Don't worry so much about the fries, just feed them BBS. Just an important note, you should have remove the male by now.

Remove the female when the fries have grown a little bigger just to prevent the female snacking or attacking the fries when they're bigger. Should be around a month or 2 depending on the size of the fries.
    Cheers!

    Chris,
Well done! Actually the fries looked quite big.

Don't over-stress your fishes. I remember once the apisto was laying eggs and i was happily firing away , that same night the eggs were eaten up.
    Cheers!

Here's pic of the male. He's about 3.5cm in size and the female is 3cm.

Chris, pardon me for being upfront but the male is not an Ap. agassizii 'Tefe'. Tefes have rather prominent abdominal streaks.

No matter though, as they are still a nice pair.

    Wiki & Benetay,

no problems at all with the mis-identification. The LFS supposedly brought in A. agassizzi 'Tefe' & 'Manicore'. The label on the tank said Tefe, so that's what I thought I had. Plus they were really small. Could they be agassizii 'Manicore'?

If not please help me identify the pair. I'll try to take some more recent pics soon as they have grown since.

    cheers
    Chris

Your male seems a little young? Try letting it flare at a mirror to see if there's any distinct coloration? Doesn't quite seem to be Aga Tefe to me

My previous Ap Agassizii 'Tefe' looks like what Samuel has posted
it has the distinct white seam around the tail and the pearl like markings on its body...
