hi all, been deciding between resun cl 450 and 650.
intending to use it for 3 2ftx1ftx1.5ft tank.
total should be about 300litre of water.
    which is a better choice?
    thanks

Maybe a 3 tier with over flow system, bottom a sump tank with pump feed through chiller Have that set up in my mind recently. But tanks run on same water perimeter if infected most likely will spread.

yup. what kiv said was right.
thats why i was deciding between the 2 chillers.

one thing good is that if the water quantity is large, so water perimeters can be maintained much easier.

I suggest you use a 650, i drop my plan as my largest chiller was a 450 now serving a 45gallons. when my mh light turn on it cut in every 15mins. I think the less kick in will prolong the service life.

Temp would depend on the temp you set on the thermostat. But since price between 650 and 450 is around 60 bux difference, i suggest you get the 650. The cools the water faster thus kick in for shorter periods each time.

I use a 450 and it runs for about 30 mins to drop and maintain 1 degree celsius for a 3x1.5x1.5ft. I'm guessing that a 650 will take about 20 mins. The only thing you may want to worry about his the fan noise (some comment that its noisy) and resun's erratic thermostat. Both problems can be fixed though with extra $$

bro, any idea how much is the 450 and 650 ?
i am looking to achieve maybe 24 degrees on my 3x1.5x1.5 ?
    so a 650 is still recommended ?
i wanna get a chiller cos the fan is getting irritatingly noisy...

cl650 can be bought for less than 500 bux. cl650 will struggle less to bring down the temperature compared to cl450.
24 degrees is achievable but i think 25-26 degrees is fine too (chiller kick in less frequent) for most flora and fauna.
I have A grade CRS and they are doing fine at 26 degrees.

Just a warning that in most cases, their thermostat dont work well.

Cost varies, depending on the wired or plug n play version. Mine is the plug n play version (italian brand digital thermostat). Got it for 200 bux, so far so good. You can PM me to find out more about it if you're interested.

    lets take it that i have 3 24inch x 12inch x 18inch tank.
the first 2 has 1 to 2 inch thick of soil.
the bottom tank is a sump tank that takes up mostly filter.
so the water volume will be reduce.
so with this setup, is a cl650 or cl450 be better?

If you are worried about power of the chiller, then just go for the cl650.

I bypassed the internal thermostat with a FOX-1004 from Sim Lim Tower. Saw the recommendations in a couple of the postings. And I'm happy with the result.

It's not difficult to DIY if you know what are you're doing. I'm using a Resun CL650 to cool down a 2 ft cube.

I also directed a eheim 1260 into the chiller directly. Strangely, the infamous Resun "pop" sound has gone away. Not sure if it's due to the pump...
