    Hi Marine aquarist,

    - Just would like to do a simple survey to find out how often do you guys / gals change portion water of your tanks ? Kindly, also indicate your tank size Thanks. I have heard that some never change the water for years, but some change quite often. Will appreciate very much if you all could share in this forum how often your tank water is changed. If you have not been changing for the past few months or even years, is everthing still fine ?
Personally, I have fixed it to change water every Month (20%), but have to monitor if 1 month is too long or too short.

    - Another point to mentioned is, water parameters are crucial. Just to share what I personally think is crucial, I monitor PH, NO2, NO3, Calcium and Ammonia in the tank. So, could anyone share what else they monitor they personally feels is important to them and why ?

    Thanks alot

me perform changes on my 4x2x2 every 6 months and each time i do that, it is abt 50%.
the reason why some ppl dun change is because they have a denitrator or their bio-load is very low or they have very good filtration system. however, with that, u need to add additives constantly as they are depleted..

the last time i perform a change was just before chinese new year.. and my NO3 is like 10ppm constant. of course, i do weekly checks on water parameters.. actually, right now, me is trying to push the changing of water to 1 yr.. hehehe.. yes.. pushing my luck.. but honestly, i do advocate water changes.. IMO, it is more beneficial to your fishes..

NH3, dun really have to measure once your tank is matured.. in my case, the only test kits that i get is for NO3. i dun need calcium test kits coz me dun keep corals.. err.. that is coz personal conviction to protect reef.

if u keep reefs, u might want to keep a check on kH.. as u need to do kalkwasser dosage..
