You won't go wrong with corys! Been keeping them peacefully with shrimps and galaxy in my 2FT and 0 problems whatsoever. In my case,i'm going for a miniature theme...so all fauna must be small? With the exception of my galaxy, everything else is as small as it gets. Brigaette,c.hastatus,c pgymaeus etc...
Do try out any of the dwarf corys, you won't go wrong with them. Best of all, they look absolutely stunning when you keep them in a group of at least 6 and they start schooling around in your tank!
Loaches on the other hand dig into substrates to forage for food if i'm not wrong, which in turn means a possibility of it disturbing your planted layout? Any loach enthusiasts here care to share their view?

Larger corys like aeneus, panda, etc. will score against small plants like HC,glosso, app.
For loaches, go with Kuhli loach but same as corys keep in small group with some shelter.
Chain loach are small but very active and may go for shrimp.

if you want cory.. go for C.Hasbrosus.. in your 2ft i guess keeping 10 is no problem.. last time used to keep them in group of 6.. never exceed 2cm.. around 1.cm long only.. very cute little fishes.
