How long did he mouthbrood?
How long did he mouthbrood?
God will make a way, where there seems to be no way
First notice of the mouthbrooding was on the 26th Dec. So it is about 10days. any luck on your side?
My greatest interest in fish hobby is to breed them.
Congrats. Is your male taking care of the fries?
Well, my male krataois swallowed the eggs after the 2nd day of mouthbrooding however my male rubra is still mouthbrooding. It's been about 10 days or so too. Female macrostoma dons her breeding dress recently.

Thank. The fries are by themselves. The male just leave them alone. Plan to remove the male in a few days.
Well, good luck to your Rubra and macrostoma. I plan to change to a 2 ft tank for my Macrostoma and shift it into my room to get aircon. Hopefully, this will induce them to spawn.
My male Rubra has been hiding since I bought them back. Could not get a good look at it whether it is mouthbrooding or not.

I had removed the male out and was trying to catch the 4 fries. When I was removing the java fern and the pot, I noticed there were about 8 to 9 fries. Quite a surprise to me. Surprise because I do not know how the male could ever squeeze 8 to 9 fries into his that small mouth.

Nice surprise. I was wondering too what's the maximum no. of fries he can hold.
