can try putting some cushioning under your filter?
can try putting some cushioning under your filter?
Hmm...I believe the sound comes from within the pump itself. Have personally tried the cushion method and even hanging the pump up (to prevent the vibrating bugger from hitting the floor) but to no avail.
In the end, I placed a heavy object (disused weight plate) and that silent it a lot.
Haha.. Selwyn.. Is that you? (329 SCE)??
Samuel here..
By the way.. I also faced this problem before.. I only face this problem after I have used the pump for almost 2 years.. The sound begin to get louder and louder.. I think due to wear and tear.. I also use all the methods mentioned above to dampen the noise but the noise still exist..![]()
Now I changed to a new air pump.. Absolutely silent.. Problem finally solved..

Yah its me bro, hahaha!!!
Yeah, the ultimate solution is to get a new pump. But before you do that, you might want to try this for last redemption. Rip your problematic pump open, you will find that there is a small metal "arm" that is fixed to a wheel. This "arm" is also attached to a piece of rubber. How it works is that the wheel will revolve at high speed, making the "arm" push the rubber, thereby pumping air out (just like how one would move a huge soya bean grinder). From there, lubricate any moving portion, i.e., the wheel, the "arm", etc. Close your pump and switch on the power.
Good luck.
p.s. Internal components based on my pump. :P
