wow... looks like a lot of growth....
My low tech after 3 months exploded... everything is everywhere..haha..so funny..
now i restarting..
It's been a long time since I shown my tank. Originally there weren't Nanas, I added them in after I got rid of the last other tank in the house.
Plants consist mainly of Java fern narrow leaf, nanas, and various crypts (most of them wenditii)
This tank was built based on the Tom Barr's Non-CO2 method.
Once weekly fertilisations are:
1/5 teaspoon KNO3
Pinch of KH2PO4
Squirt of Aquatilizer and Balance-K (just trying to use up my stock here)
2 drops of very old Micros
1/4 teaspoon Seachem Equilibrium
I top up water weekly too.
Fish inside are Ember Tetras and a lone half blind Betta. Shrimp consist of Yamatos and cherries.
I'm leaving this tank to develop on its own, without me interfering for the 2 years I'll be in army. Once I enter university though, this tank will be torn down.

It's still difficult to get a low tech nicely scaped tank isn't it? I can't do it...
Agreed. I just re-scaped and back to CO2 injected. Using Tom earlier posted method http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=31204 - lower light but with CO2 injection. Hope it will success.
Nice tank...plants look pretty lush and green.![]()
Yours Truly, Avan
I went into the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life... to put to rout all that was not life; and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

waaa..what a nice tank there..i always got the impression that low tech are algae prone..perhaps the plants inside are consistently fighting over nutrients then algae can grow. you using amazonia as substrate?

Hi Thirteen, yea I'm using Amazonia. Mainly for the crypts... since the rest of the plants all do not need substrate
Hi zyblack, it wasn't the case a few months ago when I added some peat filtration material to my filter. Apparently it caused the Java fern to die and die and die, until I realised what I had done. There was algae everywhere... right now it's still recovering
Thing is there isn't much of a scape... I intended for the wood to be more prominent. I made the mistake of not foreseeing how the crypts would grow to that size.
Going to rescape![]()
Rescaped! Here's the update:
I got rid of the crypts growing in the middle, rearranged the nanas, and repositioned some mosses. I love how the Java fern is all healthy now.
i love your needle leafs....think i need to get some...haha..
