Hi,

got some negative feedback abt the lights I bought earlier. I think I need to start a DIY project. Any idea where I can get cheap and nice lightings which can fit 2 PL tube? I need the housing only, so I intend to get those aquarium lights for double FL tube and modify them to double PL.

Any idea how much do I need to pay for double FL ocean free lights? I juz need the casing. Might be selling very cheap FL lights to u guys if u need it aft i complete my project. Hee..... How abt other brands? Please give some suggestions. I may be going down to JB to get e-ballast from giant cos it cost only RM40 there. I might be getting my PL lights there too if it's cheaper than NA. Anyone want me to help u get some bulbs? I dun mind helping since it's on my way.

Hi,

I bought my lights there too. Is chan the guy who always sits at the counter? My workmanship for the lights are not so good. I find that changing lights is a hassle cos need to unscrew so many things. The reflector is not good (looks like a piece of silver plastic, well I guess tat might have come from the orginal ocean free lights he modified) although the lights are very strong. Plus it looks abit messy with the e-ballast sticking at the sides. The wires are also quite thin.

I'm going to DIY with easy detachable holders for PL lights, thicker wirings, hidden e-ballast, plus wider spread of lights. (the ones I bought are too closed together).

Anyway, I only got myself to blame cos I bought the lights at impulse and cannot blame anyone. Just pointing out how I see the design of the lights. I know alot of u guys here are chan's frens. I'm not making a personal attack here. Hope you understand.

You mean the AEC brand now is $15 liao ah??? I bought them at $9 last time...[]
