bro.. for your corydoras. do get 4 more of the same species. as they will be happier and better if they are in groups of 6 and above.
my 2 cents.
Tank size:- 2 1/2 feet
Cannister filter - Rena
Fauna: 2 panda cory, 5 rummy nose, 4 cardinals, 5 black widow tetras, 4 otos and 30 malayan shrimps.
Laid the base with ADA power sand, top up with Amazonia 2 then GEX. Reason was, 328 has only one bag of Amazonia 2 and dont know when is the next supply. I was in a hurry to do it up for X'mas. So I went to NA and he recommended GEX. Now I have two popular subtrate in my tank!
Appreciate feedback and what can I do better?

I had 2 bronze and 2 leopard (think so) cory but all died mysteriously. The panda are remaining. Do you think I should buy 4 more panda cory?
i think you should... i used to keep only 2 C.hasbrosus in my tank.. but was strongly adviced to get at least another 4. as they school tightly in the wild.. i think they will be much happier in groups.
hmm. not bad, hairgrass properly rooted since day 1, im currently growing jap variant emersed version since my first nano tank was a failure. Good work.
Yes, hairgrass rooted since day 1. I think using GEX or Amazonia helps. Prior to this rescape, I used sand and was difficult to grow hairgrass.
Ok, will head to 328 to pick up more Panda cory.
Algae started to grow a little on the piece of rock. As you could see the initial setup, the rock was white and now slight greenish. Currently I have 4 otos and have to say, they are hard working boy. Everyday cleaning but still algae growth. Should I add more Otos or shrimps?
Hi bro,
Good setup and may be your foreground plants too long, best to use it at the back ground, so wont block the Driftwood, add some mosses to the DW and smaller plants in front of those long plants. My 2 cents.
I agree, made a mistake in impulsive buying. what I am doing now is to trim the plants every week to keep it short. Infact the background plant is thriving and cant fit the foreground plant to the back unless throw it away. Wastage right!! The DW on the left has taiwan moss on it while the DW on the right has mini java fern tied onto it.
Plant in my previous setup hardly thrive. Conclusion is the soil which most of you already know!![]()
I would suggest not to add any more Corydoras in the mean time, because the cause of recent deaths of your Corydoras are unknown. Suggest that you monitor the two C. panda for a week or two first before adding any more fishes.
aquascaping like fishing, all testing our patience and buying stuff on impulse = wastage, i still have tons of stuff not sold yet
As for the unknown deaths, try and monitor first before plunging in again.
It could be your tank not cycle enough yet, so the parameters are not good enough for fish like corydora, as they are not really hardy fishes.
My tank is not entirely new. I merely did rescape. Infact the previous setup was algae infested. I kept the filter wool and all the ceramic rings unwashed. I cleaned the tank and placed in new substrate. I planted the tank for a week then added my old cardinal then followed by my 2 1/2 years old black widow tetra to cycle the tank. All doing well but my cardinal has sunken stomach for the longest time. Cory was added only on the 3rd week. However, I agree buying on impulse is wastage. I stopped going to 328 and maybe will look into more cory end of this month.
Any feedback on the overall visual impact of the tank?
Although I not really very good myself, what I see from, what your scape lack of is the focus point. Maybe you should get a nice large bogwood, and then plant your plants ard that bogwood?
But overall, it nice to see that your plants are still so fresh and green.

Thanks bro, shld I move my DW to the centre of the tank? Currently there is a smaller piece of DW on the left and a bigger piece on the right of the tank.
Are you goind to remove the pots from the plants and plant them into the substrate or just leave them like that in the tank. Personally it looks nicer without the pots more natural.

In my opinion some of the plants and that one white rock is a tat big relative to the tank, and also most of the plants are planted too close to the front of the tank. It makes the 2.5 ft tank look pretty small and tight. Maybe you can shift the plants around so that there is some heirachy, foreground and background, to make the tank look more spacious and organised.
Bern still suck at Water Chemistry + Plant Names
Maybe you can stand abit further and take a full view of the tank. Then we can give better comment from there.
Thanks bros. The first 2 photos are the initial setup in early Dec. Plants have since grew and the last 3 photos were taken few days back. I will try to take a few more shots week after and you guys can tell me more.![]()
